06 / FORMATSNINE WAYS TO BUILD IT

Nine ways to show a place.

Every property has one of these in it. Which one depends on what your guests already talk about, how much of the place is worth showing, and whether the best thing about it is a view, a feeling, or a morning. We pick the format before we build a single frame.

You receive one of these, not all nine. Which one is the first thing we decide and the only decision we make without you.

Every format is exteriors and surroundings — the approach, the light, the grounds, the views. We never show the inside of a bookable room. That is a choice and not a limit: the rooms are the part of your listing that already exists in photographs, and they are the part every other listing has too. Scope & Delivery explains the rest.

Combined engagementLikes plus comments, divided by views. The measure is against views rather than followers — only people who actually watched are counted, so a follower count cannot inflate it.

Of everyone who watched, this many reacted or commented. Across this page it runs from 2.62% to 18.19%.

These are other people’s properties. The formats are yours to use.

We cannot show you these hosts’ booking records — nobody outside their own accounts holds those. What we can show you is the moment a stranger stopped admiring the video and asked where it was. Those comments are public. Every one below is linked, and you can go and read it yourself.

We read the comment sections on all 41 videos and pulled every one that asked for something — a link, a location, a name, a reservation. Sixty-nine did. They are under the tiles below, graded, with our reasoning next to each one.

FORMAT 01ONE TAKE

One continuous frame, no cuts.

Structure

One continuous move. The frame holds still or drifts. Nothing is cut.

What it does

There is no cut, so there is no exit point. It loops and gets rewatched without anyone noticing they are watching it twice.

Use it when

One thing about the property is strong enough to carry eight seconds on its own.

FORMAT 02THE REVEAL

Hide the view, then reveal it.

Structure

Open on something small, ordinary, or blocked. Then move, and disclose the real view.

What it does

Buys attention with curiosity in the first two seconds, then pays it off. The delay is the entire mechanism.

Use it when

There is a single you-have-to-see-it moment. Never lead with the payoff.

FORMAT 03THE WALKTHROUGH

Walk the whole property.

Structure

Cuts moving through the property in logical order, built from your own images. The drive in, the grounds, the terrace, the view — ending somewhere that stays with them.

What it does

Answers the question a guest asks last: what do I actually get if I book this.

Use it when

Someone is already interested. It is the weakest cold opener and the strongest closer.

Best performer in this format: Concrete Vaults in the Desert, at 6,855,424 views.

More people stopped to ask a question here, per view, than in any other format. That is what a tour does — it makes people want the details.

FORMAT 04THE MOOD

Set a mood in a few seconds.

Structure

Beautiful frames that do not connect spatially, chosen for feeling rather than floor plan, with one short line of text carrying the emotion.

What it does

Sells the feeling of the stay instead of the rooms.

Use it when

Top of a listing, background loop, first impression. This format has the widest spread of any — it produces both the best and the worst, depending entirely on which frames we keep.

The line of text matters as much as the image. It names a feeling and points at the image rather than describing the property.

FORMAT 05PEOPLE IN IT

Show real people enjoying it.

Structure

The place shown as somewhere a person would be, not as architecture. The property is the setting.

What it does

Lets a viewer picture their own trip instead of admiring someone else's architecture.

Use it when

You want people to insert themselves. This is the most consistently reliable format we build.

FORMAT 064 EXAMPLES

Let the light do the work.

Structure

The film is built around one moment of natural light: sun flare through a structure, golden hour flooding a room, first light on water. The architecture is the frame; the light is the subject.

What it does

Sells a time of day rather than a property. A viewer books the feeling of being somewhere at that exact hour.

Use it when

Your place does something at sunrise or sunset that it does not do at noon. Build it then and only then.

FORMAT 075 EXAMPLES

Name the place, claim the title.

Structure

The on-screen line makes a superlative claim tied to a named city or country — the cutest, the most peaceful, the most romantic — and the rest of the film is spent proving it.

What it does

Catches people who are already deciding on a destination. The claim gives them a reason to save the video against a specific trip.

Use it when

Your property can credibly own one adjective in one place. Be specific about the place; a vague claim reads as an ad.

FORMAT 085 EXAMPLES

One person, no one rushing.

Structure

A single person moves slowly through the space alone. No group, no activity, no event — one unhurried body in a room.

What it does

Sells solitude. The viewer is not imagining a party, they are imagining being left alone, which is what a large share of guests are actually buying.

Use it when

The property's real product is quiet. Adding a second person changes the pitch entirely.

FORMAT 095 EXAMPLES

Say it to one person.

Structure

The on-screen line is addressed to one specific someone — a partner, a best friend — not to an audience. It reads as a message, not a caption.

What it does

Gets the video sent rather than just liked. The text tells the viewer exactly who to forward it to, and a share to one person carries far more booking intent than a like.

Use it when

The stay is something two people decide on together. Write the line as if you were texting it.

07 / WHICH ONETAKES NINETY SECONDS

We will tell you which one your property is.

You do not have to choose. Answer eight questions about your place and we will tell you which format fits it, what it costs, and why. Ninety seconds, and your listing stops being a set of rooms.

One cost, once. You own the film permanently — your listing, your website, your advertising, for as long as you own the property. Answer eight questions and we will tell you what it costs for your place, and work out what that is in nights at your own rate before you decide.
